Modifying and Additions
Okay well here is the information that i can convey to you right now. I am currently doing alot of modifying of the website. This means that i am adding new sections to it, be they applications or sub-domains, they are changes. I do not think that I was able to work this fluidly on Dreamhost. The Control panel on Domain.com is alot better for me. Everything i need is where i need it to be when i need it to be there. I don’t that was very insightful but you know what I mean.
So with that said, I can tell you a few of the changes that I have made to this site so far.
- Added podfeed.majorthorn.com — This is a direct URL to the RSS feed for the podcast.
- Added podcast.majorthorn.com again — This is the linking to the same blog that it was before the move to domain.com
- Added a new system to support.majorthorn.com — This is for the future, and it is just something that i have been interested in for a while now. More on this later.
- Added caster.majorthorn.com — This is a new subdomain that is just a direct link to the radio page on caster.fm.
- Added chat.majorthorn.com — This is where I hope to have chat for the podcast when I get a better Chat application/system. More on this later.
I said more on the support website so I will explain it for you. I have wanted to have a support section for my website that I would use for the programs that i develop and even for the website itself. I have also been thinking about setting up a support ticket system for a while as a learning experience as well. I found out, recently, that the freeware program “livezilla” a piece of software that has been free for a long time now is no longer free. Not only is it no longer free but it has become extremely expensive. Its horrible go look it up. They had it set up where you could buy premiums when it was free, but now even though you pay a high price for each agent you still have to buy the premiums. So you buy a license then you have to pay much more for the premiums? What the heck is that all about? They lost sight of their users.
Okay now that I have come down off that, and I could have gone on for so much longer just over livazilla. I also said I would talk about the Chat subsection. All i can really say about that section right now is that it is completely ugly. The application that is installed on that section of the sight is a little old. It’s just something that I found in the domain.com webapp lists that I could have it automatically install. Rest assured, I will be looking for a nicer looking and easier to use application. I would of course look for the application for myself too, meaning an app that will be nicer and easier for me administrate.
